Renae L. Patterson, PhD, MBA, RN, PMP, BCPA
Dr. Renae L. Patterson is a Licensed Registered Nurse, Project Management Professional (PMP), Board Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA), and Philanthropist. She is the CEO and Founder of UNIFIED H.I.N.T.S Corporation. In addition, she serves as a Managing Partner and Chief Operational Officer of Unified Counseling & Mediation, PLLC and Unified Consulting, LLC. She is a Miami, FL native and proud “DOUBLE CANE” earning both a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing degree and Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree from the “U” – University of Miami Hurricanes. She has also obtained a Masters in Business Administration degree from Nova Southeastern University.
Renae has worked as a Registered Nurse since 1998, in various healthcare settings and roles throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Her experience includes emergency room, pediatric urgent care, and home health nursing, nursing education, state compliance surveyor, clinical informatics, and information technology project management. In addition, Renae has traveled throughout the United States as a healthcare IT consultant to share her expertise with healthcare organizations implementing electronic health record systems. It is a combination of her personal lived experiences, clinical and technology experiences that lead to the birth of UNIFIED H.I.N.T.S Corporation. Renae is a committed healthcare patient advocate who strives to enhance the quality of healthcare delivery for all people.
Renae’s dissertation study was titled: Seventy-eight Would Be Great: An Exploration of the use of Patient Portals as a Supporting Intervention to Improve HIV Care Engagement among Black Men Who Have Sex With Men (MSM) living with HIV. This dissertation study explored patient portals, as a potential supporting intervention to improve patient engagement and HIV-related health outcomes among Black MSM living with HIV through: (1) exploring determinants of patient portal use and (2) identifying implementation strategies to enhance patient portal use. Renae’s research interests include equitable implementation science, health and healthcare disparities among historically disadvantaged populations, patient portals technology, and patient advocacy and empowerment.
Dr. Cassaundra Wimes
Dr. Cassaundra Wimes is a Licensed Psychologist, Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator, and Qualified Supervisor with extensive experience working with vulnerable populations Dr. Wimes has dedicated her life to service with the goal of improving the quality of life and the effectiveness of organizations. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Wimes has thrived in mental health care and human service professions working in various clinical, counseling, detention, community and educational settings in South and North Florida. She has worked extensively with children, adolescents, adults, families, couples and groups. Dr. Wimes also has expertise in the areas of Organizational Psychology, Program Development and Evaluation, Community Involvement, Grant Writing and Training through the Unified Consulting, LLC established in 2003.
Dr. Wimes earned a PhD from Florida State University’s APA Accredited Combined Counseling Psychology and School Psychology program. In addition, Dr. Wimes earned a B.A. in Psychology and M.S.Ed in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy from University of Miami. She also holds certificates in Human Resource Development from Florida State University and Supervisory Management from Miami-Dade County. Dr. Wimes also served as an Adjunct Faculty Member and currently serves as Clinical Supervisor in the University of Miami’s Educational and Psychological Studies Department. Unified Counseling & Mediation currently contracts as the Center Mental Health Consultant to the Miami Job Corp Center earning the highest marks in program audit evaluation over the past 2 years.
